On 13th August 2026, the Wa West District Assembly organized its 2026 Mid-Year Review to assess the progress of activities, programmes, and projects implemented during the first half of the year.
The review brought together representatives from the various departments and units within the District Assembly. Each department made a presentation on its activities, achievements, challenges, and plans for the remaining part of the year.
The presentations provided an opportunity for the Assembly to assess its performance, identify challenges affecting the implementation of programmes, and discuss appropriate measures to improve service delivery and achieve the targets set for the year.
The review also emphasized the importance of collaboration among departments in promoting the development of the Wa West District

Courtesy call on the Hon. District Chief Executive for Wa West by District Directors of Education in the Upper West Region to formally inform him about a week long Conference of Upper West Districts Directors of Education scheduled to take place at Lassie-Tuolu Senior High School in the Wa West District.

The Editorial board of the Wa West District Assembly, together with the District Police Commander, led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Richard Wulo, inspected the scene of an armed robbery incident that occurred along the Gadi–Wechiau road on 5th August 2026.

During the inspection, the team assessed the circumstances surrounding the incident and discussed measures to enhance security along the road. The Police were urged to establish a barrier/checkpoint in the area to help prevent and minimize incidents of armed robbery and other criminal activities.

The inspection forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to working closely with the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies to ensure the safety and security of residents and road users within the district.

The support, financed through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) allocation for Persons with Disabilities, forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing efforts to improve the living conditions of vulnerable members of society and promote equal opportunities for all.

On Friday, 8th May 2026, the Wa West District Assembly held its First Ordinary Meeting of the District Assembly at the Assembly Conference Hall.

He further added that the 24-Hour Economy Market, when completed, will significantly boost economic activities in the district, the region, and Ghana as a whole.

The government of Ghana in a bit to promote cashew cultivation set up the cashew development project (CDP) in 2002. Many Northern farmers are venturing into the sector as a result.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, announced the closure of the country’s borders, partial lockdown of some parts of the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions and ban on all public gatherings as part of measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

The Illegal mining activities were identified as the cause of environmental problems such as water pollution, deforestation, poor soil fertility and limited access to land for agriculture productivity.

The Regional Minister visited the Wa West District Assembly to have an engagement session with the Hon. District Chief Executive (DCE) and staff of the District Assembly.
