The Wa West District is run by the Wa West District Assembly in the Upper West Region. The Wa West District is headed by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Richard Wulo, who is the political head in the the District.

The head of Administration in the District is the Coordinating Director, Mr Pius Fuseini who provides technical and administrative support to the the Wa West District Assembly, departments, Agencies and Institutions.
