The Wa West District Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive development by providing GH¢236,000 in financial assistance and 10 newly acquired wheelchairs, valued at GH¢67,979.96, to 72 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across the district.

The support, financed through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) allocation for Persons with Disabilities, forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing efforts to improve the living conditions of vulnerable members of society and promote equal opportunities for all.

The financial assistance is intended to help beneficiaries engage in income-generating activities, pursue education and vocational training, access healthcare services, and undertake other initiatives that will enhance their economic well-being and self-reliance. The wheelchairs will significantly improve the mobility, accessibility, and independence of beneficiaries with physical disabilities.

Speaking during the presentation, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Richard Wulo, emphasized that the Assembly remains committed to ensuring that every resident, regardless of physical ability, has the opportunity to participate meaningfully in the district’s development.

He noted that empowering Persons with Disabilities is not only a social responsibility but also an investment in human capital that contributes to the overall progress of the district. He therefore urged beneficiaries to use the financial support wisely to establish or strengthen sustainable livelihoods that would improve their standard of living.

The intervention reflects the Assembly’s dedication to promoting social inclusion, reducing inequality, and expanding opportunities for vulnerable groups. Under the leadership of Hon. Richard Wulo, the Assembly continues to implement programmes that support education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and social protection.

The initiative also highlights Wa West District’s readiness to collaborate with development partners, non-governmental organizations, private sector institutions, and investors who share the vision of promoting inclusive growth and sustainable community development.
