PROFILE OF HON. EDWARD SABO LAABIIR- DCE, WA WEST

Born on 12thDecember 1979 to Madam Chenfaa Laabiir and Mr Laabiir Luntaa at Maadutoo in the then Wa District now Wa West District of the upper west region.
Edward Sabo Laabiir attended the Jenbob Catholic Primary School from 1984 to 1990 and Junior Secondary School from 1990 to 1993.
He proceeded to the Wa Secondary School from 1993 to 1996 where he obtained his SSSCE certificate Agriculture Science.
He then entered the Wa Polytechnic to pursue a Higher National Diploma in agricultural engineering but was transferred to Tamale polytechnic to continue the program from 2001-2004, due to accreditation challenges.
Edward entered the Ho polytechnic affiliated to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)and obtained a Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering in 2013.
He also attended the University of Education- Winneba, Kumasi in 2013 where he has been awarded a Diploma in Education in 2015.
He currently holds M.A. in environmental science and Resource management from the University for Development studies,Wa.
Employment
Following his success in the HND program in 2004, he was appointed as the first National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) Coordinator for the Wa West District between 2006 and 2009 under H. E John Kufuor’s regime. A position that earned him a lot of popularity and national recognition due to his hard work.
Until his nomination by the President and confirmation today by the Assembly as DCE for Wa West, Mr Laabiir has been teaching at Daffiama Senior High School since 2014 having worked at the Lassia Tuolu SHS as a teacher and later served as circuit supervisor in the Kojokperi circuit.
